Sam Lubell has done it again. This book is a great resource for anyone who loves MCM arcitecture. For me personally It’s better than his west coast volume, but that’s because I live on the east coast so I have more time to visit the amazing works that he leads the reader to. I appreciate Mr. Lubell great, also Darren Bradley’s photography is a nice addition.
This is a detailed look at many (but certainly not all) of the East Coast's iconic Mid-Century Modern commercial and residential properties. As one who is completely obsessed with this period of architecture, it is an informative and fun read (particularly living in DC, which is rich with constipated people and a subsequent lack of daring architecture). The images are great, and of good quality.There is a tad too much editorializing and, may I suggest, condescension by the author in his review of several buildings. Alas, that's part of this book's charm, and I'm looking forward to his presentation at Modernism Week in Palm Springs in February.
Perfect guide to learn about Mid-Century Modern Architecture on the East Coast. Amazing photos by the talented photographer Darren Bradley. A must have.
Truly outstanding - I only wish there were more buildings listed. A great wide range of MCM and some more recent Modernist style buildings are listed including addresses and history write-ups.
Beautiful while drawing you into another era.
